In the long term, likely those who regularly consume Cannabis ? Zoom in on side effects Cannabis Accidents, psychoses, cancer, heart …
Who uses marijuana?
166 million people worldwide use cannabis. Data from the United States indicate that 10% of occasional consumers of Cannabis become regular users, highlighting the serious problem of addiction Cannabis. Moreover, we note that the concentration of THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), the main active ingredient of Cannabis Increased from 2% in 1980 to 8.5% in 2006.
Cannabis increases the risk of accident
Even if the risks are lower than under the influence of alcohol, driving after consuming Cannabis increases the risk of accidents. In France, 2.5% of deaths from traffic accidents are related to making Cannabis.

How about listing the benefits of smoking cannabis?
Thousands of people die every year from Alcohol overdose. 0 people have died from cannabis overdose.
If Cannabis was legal it would be common sense to make it illegal to drive under the influence, like all the legal medicines that affect your reaction times including alcohol.
@Lee
Lee, we would love to post a follow up article if you are interested in writing one – this site primarily discusses the negative impact of drugs on communities, families & individuals, but we are aware that certain drugs do have positive effects on some people. Thanks,
Staff
The thc percentage may have increased but so has the CBD percentage. CBD is another of the many cannabanoids that effects us when we smoke it. However CBD lessens the effect of thc. Taking a dose of thc on its own would be very different from the effects of cannabis. Because the CBD percentage has also increased, people just smoke less cannabis. There is no higher risk of any negative effects with newer forms of cannabis, this was simply a scare tactic which the English government used. Actually because users smoke less to reach the desired effect, it is less dangerous as less smoke is taken in to the lungs. As lee said no one has ever overdosed from cannabis unlike alcohol and tobacco. Also cannabis is only addictive to those with addictive personalities. I have known many people who smoke cannabis regularly, none of whom have ever had any trouble stopping cannabis.
Could you please post some evidence for the claims regarding health?
Everything I have read recently (I could provide tons of links), mostly from scientific studies, indicate completely the opposite: there are zero negative effects on long-term health known.
Even the slight indications about psychosis or schizophrenia have recently been nullified. There was a study several years ago that found that cannabis might bring an existing predisposition (and only in that case) to the surface. However it has now been established that this was not true and that possibly cause and effect have been reversed. Over the whole population, cannabis use has increased significantly since the 1950s, but overall cases of phychosis have not.
And on the contrary, there are many benefits known: strong anti-oxidant, known to reduce various kinds of tumors. Even smoking cannabis, which produces 20 times more dangerous chemicals as tobacco, would one make think that it should be very bad for the lungs (e.g. lung cancer). However, because of the anti-tumor properties of THC, it has been shown that even smoking cannabis does not cause lung cancer (b.t.w. I do not smoke it but use a vaporazer anyway because I do not want to take any risks).
It is physically impossible to overdose (unlike for example with nicotine, caffeine, alcohol or even water).
There is absolutely no physical addition. However a psychological addition is possible and can be a real problem (just like Internet, computer games, sex, etc. etc. etc.).
Of course you shouldn’t mix cannabis and driving or performing any other activities that require ones concentration. As with any substance, one should use it with moderation and caution.
By the way, I have been using about once a week for 20 years now. I’m a scientist and have suffered no ill effects. My alcohol consumption has declined to almost zero. There are many other scientists known to use cannabis without abusing it (e.g. the physics nobel prize winner Richard Feynmann who smoked almost each night).
Forgot also to mention that no irreversible brain modifications have been found. Short term memory suffers as an immediate effect; this is restored fully; even after years of (too) heavy use, a short period of abstinence has shown to fully revert the original capacity of people’s memory.
“In France, 2.5 of deaths from traffic accidents are related to making Cannabis”.
I need clarification here, I have never heard of anyone dieing from making Cannabis while driving. I am sure Cannabis is a plant that grows the same way as other fruit bearing plants grow. Please explain how Cannabis is made while driving and how it affects the health of those who died in these horrible accidents.
I also failed to find any new information concerning my health, or that of my family or my community. I came here looking for new information and facts, but I find myself dissapointed. The only thing I take from this article is the clear fact that the people associated with the DEA and the companies invested in keeping a healthy fruit bearing plant illegal, have nothing new to say just old fairy tale “facts”.
Thanks.
